We are pleased to welcome the QueryStax team to the family! QueryStax is a reporting and database tool for Amazon sellers and eCommerce agencies. Their products include automated email reporting and ready-to-go SQL databases, which store sellers’ marketplace and advertising data. Founded by Louise Tanski, QueryStax was initially built to solve the needs of her eCommerce management business, where she and her team spend hours each week manually compiling data for client reporting.

We are pleased to welcome the QueryStax team to the family! QueryStax is a reporting and database tool for Amazon sellers and eCommerce agencies. Their products include automated email reporting and ready-to-go SQL databases, which store sellers’ marketplace and advertising data. Founded by Louise Tanski, QueryStax was initially built to solve the needs of her eCommerce management business, where she and her team spend hours each week manually compiling data for client reporting.

As an investor, a fascinating aspect of acquiring Amazon-native brands is the 1p data accessible through Amazon, which paints a complete picture of the brand's historical performance. However, accessing a brand’s Amazon data is not easy. Amazon’s APIs are complex, information is reported in different timezones, and datasets often need to be combined to glean meaningful insights. At Moonshot, we’re familiar with these issues from first-hand experience, which is why we were so interested in QueryStax’s team and technology. 

When we were introduced to QueryStax through a series of University of Pennsylvania connections in 2020, our founding teams agreed that there would be ways for QueryStax in Moonshot to work together. Our working relationship began in 2021 when the QueryStax team began helping Moonshot audit potential acquisitions by providing an additional analytics layer during the M&A process. 

QueryStax’s process benefitted Moonshot and acquisition targets alike. Moonshot was providing a clear report outlining performance over time. The FBA businesses were provided with actionable insights to improve the value of their business. The result was an improved M&A process that increased transparency with sellers and improved the decision-making process within Moonshot. 

As the relationship between our team at Moonshot and QueryStax grew, it became clear to us at Moonshot that an acquisition might be a natural next step in the relationship. The QueryStax team and technology will enable Moonshot to dive further into the data that drives the eCommerce landscape and use data-driven decision-making to lead investment strategies. 

At Moonshot, QueryStax team members will take up new roles within the business development team, the M&A team, and the technology team. Their holistic knowledge of the inner workings of FBA companies and the Amazon landscape will augment the understanding of Moonshot’s existing team members. 

The strategy behind this acquisition is clear;  by acquiring a team of engineers and product leaders familiar with Amazon’s marketplace and Amazon advertising, Moonshot will be able to scale internal technology and accelerate new projects efficiently. The business development and M&A teams will also benefit from the deal by having resources like Louise and Josh Hoffman, who have worked with Amazon businesses since 2016.
